Meanie:

Well, it has a pretty large native region of Australia. It's native from tropical Queensland to subtropical New South Wales. It's very doubtful that this tree could grow outside in the U.K., maybe with the exception of the Isles of Scilly. Although, it may not flower there, because it needs quite a bit a heat to bloom (but you never know, I've been wrong before. lol).

Nice, there are some in Hayward, Alex by the police dept that bloom every year- 12-15' tree's I guess. Maybe a bit more. I either catch them out of bloom or full bloom..never seen the start of the bloom.

Yes, those trees have been there (the ones at Winton and Santa Clara) for many, many years (since the late 1970's?). They keep them relatively small. I have seen them bloom many times. Those trees even survived the 1990 freeze with very minimal damage.

The large trees located at Stanford University sustained a lot of damage. They lost big limbs. I'm sure they recovered very well over the last 14 year, though.
