This is one of my favorite varieties of Copperleaf. It growing in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. Photo taken Sept. 15, 2011.

This large shrub is very difficult to grow outside the subtropical/tropical climate zone, even indoors (in winter).

Oh. We have no trouble here at all in summer. Poke it in the pot, it'll be huge, just can't be in the wind.

I was surprised how many Acalypha I was able to grow in Fremont (Mission San Jose). They don't look very good in winter; however, spring - late fall they can look excellent. Acalypha needs as much sun and heat as you can give it.

We had this as a greenhouse annual. The owner always loving new foliage colors. It grew so fast and big, it was hard to put with anything. I like to see it here more matured. Great colors.
