Ctenanthe oppenheimiana cv 'Quadricolor' and Megaskepasma erythrochlamys - Brazilian Red Cloak (Ctenanthe oppenheimiana cv 'Quadricolor' and Megaskepasma erythrochlamys - Brazilian Red Cloak)

My cutting-grown Brazilian Red Cloaks should be blooming soon. They needed a good soaking in the 100ºF/38ºC heat today, tomorrow suppose to be hotter. Yuck! Photo taken Oct. 12, 2011.

Yes, it is. :>) The leaves can grow very large, however, the large scarlet flower bracts are the big show.

The three rooted cuttings you gave me have grown fast. They're now blooming and showing those bright scarlet bracts.

They do grow very quickly and bloom so well this time of year. My 3 of the 4 plants in the ground are starting to bloom.

Yes, it's way too hot here! It's suppose to cool down to normal temps this weekend. :>)

I think the Tri-color isnt as a deep shade plant as I thought. Mine hasnt grown as much as I thought it would on my porch. It may prefer dappled summer sun,then all shade.
