'Sahin's Early' is still in flower on the stream bank, and Clematis 'Gypsy Queen' is scrambling up the bank to have a mingle!

Love Gypsy Queen. Mine has not appeared much this year....sadly.

That's a shame, K. Mine loves it on the stream bank, and as I can't prune her, she's a large plant! :-)

Sounds lovely! :))

Yes, she gives me a lot of pleasure every year. She dangles into the water, so I get reflections too. ;-)

Now you are making me jealous! :))

Oooh, have you seen that double helenium on the right of this page? Wow!

Sorry. I was just thinking - I wouldn't have thought of planting a Clematis to amble about on a bank, as I'm so used to them being climbers. I'm really glad our predecessors did it, though. :-))

That's the one I planted in early September, K. :-))

Yes, a little inspiration goes a long way! Saying that though, I have 'Arabella' and twice I have tried allowing it to scramble and do it's own thing and it doesn't work at all...hardly any flowers. I suppose it is because it is a type 3. Next year it will be back on it's obelisk or tied to the tree.

Ah, do you know, I wondered that as I pressed 'send'! :))

It's no use B, one of these days I am going to have a garden big enough for these lovely perennials! :S

Yes - and I'm awful - I'm sure it needed watering. However, after all the rain we had today it probably got watered naturally. :-)) My water butts were full this evening.

You'll definitely have to move, K. You need at least an acre. :-)))

lol...you're not wrong B! :))

Two of my favourites Spritz. Mine are nearly over. One cold blast and that is it. I got my heater for my green house. I intend to wrap my plants up well and only us it if it is really cold.
21 Oct, 2011
I've started to dig up a few of my vulnerable plants, Linda. I do keep one greenhouse frost-free. It's expensive, but gives me peace of mind. At least with a thermostat the heater isn't on all the time.
23 Oct, 2011
I'm just going to turn it on when it is really cold.
29 Oct, 2011
You can leave it on all the time soon, Linda - if you set it to the temp. you want, it cuts in and out so you don't need to worry if it gets cold in the night. :-)
