This pepper is particularly confusing. The real deal is a Capsicum Chinense, but there are also Annuum & Frutescen versions (shown here) grown across the world which are no where near as hot. The annuum version is sold under the name PC-1 in the USA and the heat level is medium/hot. Capsicum: Frutescens Origin: India. Scoville units: 50,000-80,000
I have yet to grow it's cousin Bhut Jolokia, Capsicum: Chinense. Scoville units: 1,041,427, The hottest pepper of all.
