Thanks Drc, Amy, Terra, Paul - No it didn't this time but every time I put something over the pond it's long beak seemed to breach it, thought the chair might work :o/. Even was so bold as to just jump upon the fence and watch me when I walked out into the garden!!! :o)

Thanks Silver. He is a 'teenager' apparently so lots of attitude and swagger as he strolled across the lawn and I walked toward him, only to retreat at the last minute. :o) At our last house the Heron cleared the pond completely so having to make sure all parts are covered.

I've got the same problem, but I've not caught it on camera.

Thank you for all your lovely comments Homebird. My husband has also put fishing line around our pond as he says that the Heron walks into the water and will be deterred by the line, and as you say other birds can fly over/under. As you can see I love my garden and taking photographs, which I love to share with others :o)

For such a big bird, they get into some pretty tight spaces in search of a meal. :-)

They do. He was very cheeky, think he was a teenager, wasn't phased when I went into the garden, came down for a week then realised he wasn't getting any of my fish. :o)
