Mild winter this year, or harsh one last year?

mild this year, very harsh last year. everything was late getting going last spring.
Crissue - this is an evergreen vine native to the southern US down to South America. I posted some photos last year. It can be seen deep in the woods scrambling high up tree trunks with those bright yellow flowers. Mine is loaded with buds this year.

and it's pretty, that's the important thing. It does get to be quite long, 30' or so, so I can just imagine how it will look in a few years, twining all over my railings. its nice to have bright yellow flowers in wintertime too
