Where this shrub is growing is a bit alkaline (we have a lot of unhappy rhododendrons), but the soil might have been improved. I wonder if enkianthus is still so likely... :)

Looked on tag and it says it can survive in either acid or neutral - Can you get a full view of it :)) - looks a little like ribes too :))))))))))))
