Another imposing specimen from Ooty Botanical Gardens

This is a old specimen, the picture does not do justice to it, It was planted in 1890's when this garden was established.

The old large Araucaria specimens are the most impressive! I have seen many large ones here. However, the most beautiful Araucaria bidwillii specimen I've ever seen is growing in a city in the San Francisco Bay Area (where I used to live).
The tree posted (above) is actually the Bunya-Bunya tree (Araucaria bidwillii). The Monkey Puzzle tree is Araucaria araucana, which has much larger rope-like leaves. It tends to grow much more sparsely.

That one has an interesting shape. It looks like it has sustained some wind damage at one time.
