My Pink Ball Tree is blooming like crazy this year. It typically starts to bloom in late December around Christmas. The flowers smell soooo goooood, like strawberry cake or ice cream! It does attract a lot of bees, though...it's surprising I didn't get stung, taking this pic. Photo taken Jan. 26. 2012.

Dwyllis:
This tree is from tropical areas of east Africa and Madagascar. It's in no way related to hydrangea. Dombeya is a very tropical genus of flowering large (some can grow to more than 80ft/25m) trees native to Africa and Madagascar.
I look forward to seeing your photos of your hydrangeas.

Pretty. I only have the common mop-head hydrangeas & they don't seem to have any smell, & no bees hovering nearby .... in fact I am just about to put up a photo of them, as they are now changing colour.
