An exploding star? A newborn nebula? Just my Clivia miniata brightening the windowsill with this spectacular and beautiful fiery burst of scarlet and gold on a bleak winter's day.

This is one of my favourite House Plants - Is this one early? There are no signs of flowers on my plants a.o.y but they are in an unheated conservatory!

Hello Tracey, this is kept on a bay windowsill with a southerly aspect with a reflector behind. I keep the room only minimally heated at around 50 - 60 degrees Fahrenheit. I use the flat's heating only for about one hour per day. This is because the building has background central heating and I do what we have always traditionally done; wear more clothes during the cold weather. All my plants seem to thrive in these conditions as my many photos show. I think that this plant will flower at any time of the year for reasons unbeknown to me. This shot is of one of two spikes which have appeared this year so far. David.
