Young tree but grew very fast last Summer. It takes a few years before the bark begins peeling. Typically it is a slow-growing tree.

They are beautiful trees, even when young. It takes a few years before they flower and their bark begins peeling. This one got destroyed by my dog less than a week ago but I have another one about the same size.

That's why it's worth spending the extra money for a larger sized tree, they don't break so easy! I can't stay mad at my dog haha. She's usually very careful around plants and she was chasing a ball that I threw. I just wish it had been a tree that's cheaper to replace.

no i couldnt stay angry with my cat either!
its a shame but i am glad you have another! no chance this one will re-grow?

There's always a chance but it broke pretty close to the ground. I've seen trees come back from that before.
Funny you mentioned it, I got this for really cheap at the nursery I used to work for because the top half had died. I cut off the dead half and it grew past its original height in one season.
