Great old specimen

They grow pretty fast. This one might not be so old, or do you think it is?

It's developed the open 'shelved' form which is into maturity. Going by the spread and trunk thickness I would say 150 years minimum.

OK. Might be. If you watch closer, you can see, that its shape was partially modulated.

The removal / loss of some higher limbs?
24 Feb, 2012
Yes, that is what I meant.

That probably wasn't intentional. They can lose limbs to lightning or winds. There are some big ones near to where Stickitoffee lives along a ridge and one of them has broken in half completely. There's a very big one near to me that has lower limbs missing. I'll post the picture up in a minute, it has my mother standing next to it for scale.

So Sticki as well as you live in Spain :)?

No lol, we live in England.

They are elegant trees. Looking forward to show you my cedar in garden. It grows very fast, about meter each year.
