Brilliant! My Roscoea seeds are now germinating, and I have three Datura Wrightii seedlings! Yay!

All the Cassia have germinated Karen!!!

Gosh, that lot will keep you busy. I am not going to sow any more now until I get back from hols at the start of April. If they germinate, I won't be here to water them for a week, so best leave it I think. My peppers and cucumbers will be a bit later this year, but they will catch up I bet.

Didn't mention the fifty chilli plants and the various cuttings!

Wow! You've been very busy! Which Cassia species are you growing?

Lychee will germinate fast, however, it can be painfully slow in a container and even in the ground. There are trees here in San Diego which are more than 115 years old and they're still going strong and bearing fruit. There's some varieties now which have golf-ball sized fruit (like the variety Emperor). Most likely you will have to grow your plants in a heated greenhouse to bear fruit...they can be very temperamental trees.

Lychee and Longan are my favorite fruit! I can eat many lbs of these fruit. :>)

I have Cassia bicapsularis Delonix. They came from a GoY'er and the spares are now doing the rounds with other members.

I'm only growing the Lychee because I could - I have no expectation of fruits (much as I love them).

Cassia bicapsularis is a good grower. It grows wild here in most of San Diego County. There's huge stands along the coast in northern San Diego County. It's a nice winter-bloomer.

Awww, too bad! You can't grow lychee without expecting at least some fruit. Although, I think Longan is an easier grow...as it's not as picky about the water quality. You most likely don't have to be concerned about this where you live, right?

I'll just be happy with a few blooms on the Cassia!

Cassia bicapsularis is easy to get to bloom (even in a pot), it just needs to be kept on the dry side.

Cassia tomentosa is another one which is easy to grow. I love the wholly leaves! My favorites are: Cassia javanica, spectabilis, fistula, bakeriana, roxburghii and siamea.
