i know it doesn't look much now but i'm well chuffed with this, it's the bluest flower i've ever seen when it flowers of course :-)....

This is a very exciting plant. I had never heard of it but I do like blue in the garden so looked it up in

I love the photo and description on that site -
The second photo is a picture of this plant just as it is beginning to start into growth again showing the unusual storage organ, described by Alberto Castillo as radial threads connected to terminal "sausages".
When you say conditions are vital ? in what way. Is it very fussy where it grows.

yes they really are a lovely plant Scotsgran i can't wait for it to flower, it's fussy in drainage and soil condition and it hates to be moved, i have it on my alpine area which has a ton of hard core under it for drainage plus sandy light soil to...

Right. The roots really are weird looking. That blue is to die for. It must be one of the best blue flowers available.

as soon as i saw it i had to get one :-)) yes it's "sausage" storage organs break very easily that's why the don't like to be moved..

I have ordered one, which is out of stock at the moment but they will let me know when it becomes available again. I love this site for all the information we get through enjoying each others gardens.
