Do you like it? I did not know about it, but I was attracted by that beautiful colour and smooth surface. I bought it in one gallery to the garden, as decoration, but when I read from the label I have got to it that it is from verdite, sometimes called "Africa's green gold" which is found only in southern Africa, I decided to keep it at home. It is Shona sculpture.

yes it's very nice, the stone is hard to get these days as they have stopped exporting it so i heard, it's a lovely sculpture too...

I did not know that. But I know that it was precious stone already at that time and that only the most skilled artists were making sculptures from it. I think that region is now suffering from lot of AIDS, so maybe that´s why...

...also some artists are very poor, they are doomed to wait for somebody from outside to buy their sculptures...

I think its a lovely piece Kat,& rare by the sound of it well worth hanging on to,how big is it ? From the photo it looks about the size of a football.
