We had something like this happen to one of ours, grew so big had to break it up in the end, but still have part of it growing away, nothing like the plant we first bought though..

have you posted any pics? how did you 'break it up'? i realy like what its doing.

It was so heavy, we had to snap it off, so we planted part of it, will see if I can find some pics of it.

There's actually a technical name for this...I can't remember it, though.

Fasciation is caused by proliferation of cells at some point on a plant.
i have to remember this as i'm giving a talk on aeoniums at picton castle garden show in 2 weeks....
