These are lovely. Is that tufa or supertufa Pcw? if that is the same pink one you are showing now. it has grown a lot over the year.

That's the real thing. The pink saxifrage is the same one and is easy to grow and get hold of.Mine would have come from a garden centre.
I have another one in a pot.I'll see if I can get a bit off the side when it's finished flowering.

I've got quite a few of the run a mile type saxifrages which I probably bought in trays of 6 and they like the garden and cover paths if I'm not careful. I must look at the photos of my sink. There is a little saxifage in it but I cr what colour it is. Just checked it flowered in June and has white flowers. There is another which has tiny flattish rosettes and red stems to the 8" tall flowering spike.

If you have a look at portraitsofalpineplants.com there's a good bit on hypertufa and troughs.

Thank you Pcw. It is a fascinating web site. I have put it in my favourites so I don't lose it. I can see me returning to it again and again. I just painted my fish boxes but I'm now ready to give them a coating of hypertufa. I think it will strengthen them and make them last much longer. His suggestions for planting and placing are easy to understand and follow too.
