The rock doesn't show up very well. It is called shist and it has garnets in it. It came from Emerald Creek in Idaho. What fun digging for garnets!

LOL..small world..Pollyanna... I have a piece of rock with garnets in it that I dug out of the soil...when digging my pond...heaven only knows where the fill came from that went into the development we live in...I washed it off with the hose and one of the garnets glinted RED...all small, none any bigger than 1/8 inch across.
