Great year for redbuds, all of them look beautiful. Mine has never flowered like this, usually winter kills the flower buds. Redbuds grow in Michigan but don't always flower well if they're in an exposed spot.

I shouldn't say they don't do well but a redbud from the south won't survive here in the north. The redbuds here are blooming everywhere, usually they don't bloom until mid May. I'd still like an 'Appalachian Red' but they are very hard to find. Chinese redbuds are also very pretty but the one I planted outside died. I have a small 'Don Egolf' potted redbud that is about to flower though :)

Forest Farm in Oregon has Appalachian Red, according to Dave's Garden. I've never ordered from them though - shipping costs to GA are outrageous.

Yeah they're pretty outrageous here to ship here too, especially for larger plants. There is one nursery here that has them but $200 for a six foot tree is more than I care to pay haha.

I've been wanting a redbud for years and years, they do really well here and are blooming now.
