This is dogwood Rubra. Beautiful large flowers. I am surprised you already have flowers as in your zone (MIchigan) it must be much later, I guess June, doesn´t it?
I am worried about one of my dogwood trees. It did not show any bud until now, I think it must have frozen this winter.

Dogwoods usually flower mid-May here. These are in a greenhouse but dogwoods growing outdoors are beginning to flower now too. Everything has opened much earlier this year! My Cornus kousa dogwood is just showing bud break but those are typically later (June here). Did your dogwood flower? Sometimes Spring frost can zap flower buds.

THere were little buds in January and they were damaged by frost. But since then no sign of life. I broke several ends of upper branches and they were dried.
