It shows an odd thought process..I think that you can't grow Rhubarb in pots...But a mighty Gunnera!? Worth a go.

it's alright - looks very healthy - garden centre has a huge gunnera in a 3 ft space round. I think they grow that bit stronger too not so spread - more power to the leaves :)))))))))

You can buy olive tree pots the size of a small apartment block here, that maybe would suit them, but surely Gunneras are landscaping plants and would need gallons of water to thrive. It's the last thing I'd have thought of putting in a pot!

i thought you could grow rhubarb in pots????

It was given to me seven years ago, has always been in a pot. It got to over 6ft a couple of years ago and then died off this plant came up from the roots.
Yes Paul this is how it is now.
I don't think you could feed rhubarb enough in a pot Sticki, for it to thrive.
I don't give it an awful lot of water either Gattina, I water it two or three times a week in summer...the Big leaves keep the soil shaded and quite moist.

thanks pimpernel, thats probably why mine died!!!

I've only ever seen Gunnera growing abundantly near ponds and rivers, so that's probably why I thought it was a water-margin plant. So it IS you who's the perpetrator of this botanic crime, then?
