I've been lucky enough to be given a brand new bed to work in a family members backyard. Last autumn I planted a few perennials and some bulbs. Its starting to come on. A year ago this was just weeds and broken bricks.

Thanks! I've kept it fairly simple with mainly foxglove, lupin and hollyhock for the summer and plenty of hardy geraniums at the front (becoming a little addicted to those!). Its nice to have somewhere else to look after as my own backyard is very small and 90% containers.

Yes, nice to have the new space for growing.
I think we all develop our favourite flowers, as you've done with the hardy geraniums. Which varieties of those do you like?

Well I like the long-flowering varieties. Trying to get hold of 'Rozanne' (may have to buy it online). At the moment I have 5 (versicolor - which has pretty veined flowers, phaeum - purple flowers and good for shade, macrorrhizum - scented leaves which turn red in autumn, nodosum - in my own plot only had it two years and its already seeding around and the old stalwart 'Johnsons Blue'). They all have quite striking foliage aswell.

That's an interesting selection.
Did you buy most of those locally ?

Yes I prefer to see before I buy but I do get one or two plants via ebay etc. that I can't resist!
