One of the large trees in the woods, I stood under it to take this picture. The entire tree was covered in flowers.

I was out there until it started raining yesterday, I wanted to see more but it is very overgrown back there with thorns.

Yes it was very pretty, seems like everyone around here has been talking about how nice the redbuds and dogwoods have looked this year. The very warm temps in March made everything open sooner and the cooler weather we've had since has made the flowers last longer. It's been nice but I do miss the warm weather and it's a pain when blueberries are flowering and we get frost about three times a week.

Seems as though you are getting similar weather to us. Really quite cool with frequent threats of frost. And now we are getting quite a lot of rain and hail!

So far we have lucked out with frost and the damage hasn't been too bad. It was strange a couple weeks ago when so many flowers and leaves were open while it was snowing! I love Spring but it is always unpredictable. Is that weather typical for you this time of year?

we hope to have a milder April and usually dont have it quite as cold as this. [April 2011 was dry virtually all month] April is typically showers and we certainly have those this year.
there is an old saying "ne're cast a clout till may is out"
In other words, don't take your warm clothes off until the May blossom is out because cold weather can return during the spring months!

April is different every year for us. Some years there is snow on the ground through April and other years it is fairly pleasant. This has been a strange year, March felt like June all month and April felt like March. We usually get a lot of rain and storms in May and then summer is dry and hot. It sounds like the weather there is as unpredictable and moody as it is here! There is always the possibility of getting a sun burn and frostbite in the same week.

Similar except for the possibility of sunburn I think! That is unlikely, certainly until June!

I always get sunburn in April because I forget to put on sunscreen when it is only 50 degrees! Isn't summer cooler there and winter milder?

In general yes, we don't seem to have long hot summers, but we have been having some colder winters, having said that 2011/12 was quite mild here.
