In the morning I noticed first sign of life in the old brick wall. I already thought they were destroyed by frosts. In any case! This colony of bees has lived in my garden for 15 years and nobody and nothing can destroy them. I tried all - fire, cement, beekeeper and this winter frosts minus 20 degree of Celsius. Slovak bee :)

They are not harmful to me. As this corner of garden is rarely visited by other people, I do not know how would they behave to others.
But you know, it is fine shadow area especially during hot summer days and I would like to have relaxing chair here and read here, but I have respect :)))

My OH runs a mile when he sees one , for some strange reason they zoom in on him and sting him , it's happened so many times , and wasps are even worse! he has disturbed wasps nests in the garden several times he has run into the house with wasps all over him and covered in stings .... he's lucky he isn't allergic to them ..

The same problem I have had. Bees, wasps and mosquitoes are attracted by certain smell of skin. It is well know that some perfumes excites them, but also smell of our sweating glands. I read lot of medicinal books but did not find solution for better protection. The only one which is working in some people, is to take high dose of vitamins B several hours before you are going to be exposed to these insects. Metabolism of this vitamins causes specific smell of the sweat, which people do not detect, but it is repellent to insects.
