Lavandula stoechas var.papillon (French lavender)

Lavandula stoechas var.papillon (French lavender) (Lavandula stoechas (French lavender))

My earliest lavender. This has got through 3 winters in a pot in my front yard, despite temps of -10. Wondering if its winter wet rather than just cold that kills off many of these?

Yes, winter wet seems a possibility doesn't it.
This one is looking good. The sparrows ripped mine to shreds for nesting material ... and took the stems off the English lavender too !
Their nests must smell very nice ;o)

It thrives on neglect. I barely water it in the summer!

Mine always froze in winter when I had planted them outside. But we have stronger winters, sometimet it reaches minus 15-20 Celsius. That is why I have L. stoechas only in pots.
