Due to Greek mythology peony is named after Paeon, a physician to the gods. He received the flower on Mount Olympus from the mother of Apollo. Who knows? Maybe that´s why I love them :)))))

Surreylad, this is Festiva Maxima but my peony Boule de Neige, they are in buds yet, too :) Also Sarah Bernhardt is still in buds, although have to check it this weekend.

Somebody on GoY asked about the name of his peony, which was Festiva Maxima. I would like to say, no doubt many of you know very well, that peony, once it is established (and it takes sometimes 2 years), has more and more flowers. It generally likes sunny places and not so much water.
