Pieris japonica 'Flaming Silver'

I've been looking for this variety for years and happened to come across it at a nursery I visited out of town a few days ago. Pieris is not as demanding as rhododendron and mountain laurel about soil pH but I've had a difficult time keeping them alive in the past. Most of that was probably poor placement on my part though. Looks like Christmas in Spring.

I had one of the plain leaved forms before and had it planted in a spot where water dripped on it from the roof and froze it in a big block of ice all winter haha. You can probably imagine how it looked after winter! Probably didn't help that my dog peed on it all the time either! They are beautiful plants, not very often I see a large one growing in a garden though!

It looks like a very healthy plant. They do very well in the soil where I live - I have a small one but you should see the size of the ones in my neighbours!!!
