If you look closley you can see it has a zig zag across it's back, or is it a W?

It's been identified as a Carpet Bug by The Wildlife Trust. Apparantly the lava are called wooly bears and they eat you out of house and home carpets along with any soft furnashings. Good job we don't have any carpet in our bungalow. Luckily it was outside on the patio table.

Pu Nez we call them here, they congregate behind our shutters in Winter...and when you disturb them they stink lol....

Okay so nobody spotted my deliberate mistake (furnashings) which should be furnishings. Actually it's not my fault my keyboard is dyslexic.
