I don't see this shrub very often, usually in mail-order catalogs listed as "baby lilac". It's not related to lilac at all and reminds me of a purple flowering daphne. It blooms sporadically all summer with small fragrant purple flowers. Nothing special out of flower but still a nice plant. I mentioned it a few times and posted it mostly in case anyone was curious as to what it looked like. I'll post better pictures when the flower buds open.
