Daylily cross - Cat's Cradle X Candy Cane Dreams

Diameter: 6.5" Spider ratio: 1:4
In the background is Bounty X Smoke Scream, a double.
The white tag is because I crossed this with Blue Oasis X Unk, hoping for the eye to transfer. I use the plastic bottles my cat litter comes in to make tags I either etch with numbers for crosses or names of plants. No fading, and since it is recycling a plastic bottle it's free. For the cross numbers, they are attached with twist ties from my garbage bags - they'll last long enough to harvest the seeds.

I have a soldering iron with a pointy tip, so it is done with heat and the plastic is melted - very permanent.

I've tried anything you can think of : permanent markers, cutex, hobby paint, tippex... I'm now trying plain and simple pencil...lol!

That is why I went to an easy but very permanent method.

I love this one Wylie.......
Great idea with the bottles I've been trying to decide how to name mine, its ok while they're in small pots because I can keep each cross in a seperate tray but now they're starting to be potted on I'll have to watch I don't mix them up, I could probably do the same with milk bottle cartons :-))

I made up a list of the seeds and grouped them by who I got the seeds from and if they are a DIP or Tet. This one came from Mthrnatur on the Lily auction (MN) and is a DIP (D) and was the 7th lot; so I can use a shorthand on the tag: MN/D-7. That fits easily on a tag, and for photos I use the long cross names since once you have the seeds you own all rights, including naming and registering rights. I tried writing on a piece of paper and covering it with sticky tape, but it soon faded and my planting diagram is how I have to keep track of those (once I decide who to keep I can make permanent tags).

A nice yellow spider! What do you use to write on your tags?
