A photo of one of the first ever buds on this climbing rose, taken this morning.
It was so old and evil that I cut it back to the ground the year before last...and I had to use a hacksaw!

I've still got the scars that it sprung in May - two years ago, Scottish!! ;)
Just as well it's got a pretty face, Paul! :))
...or it would be for 'the chop' again! lol!
