Now that is sad, Andy. They are such wonderful plants with their great foliage. I only have two at the moment and they seem to survive without much attention from me at all. They are just in the right spot and love it out in the shadehouse. Note to self ... must get around to re-potting them!

I know it's sad! I do have some plants in the Marantaceae family (like: Ctenanthe) growing in my yards, though. They tolerate the hard water here in San Diego better than Calathea.

Yes it is. I've had Ctenanthe oppenheimiana in the front yard for years. It does very well under my Phoenix roebelenii (Pygmy Date Palms).

That's the tricolour one isn't it? Fabulous foliage.

Yes, it's tricolor on the top of the leaves and dark purple on the back.

I like this plant. All mine died. :>( They don't like our horrible hard water here in San Diego.
