Many years ago I used to feed doves with my grandfather, then when I felt alone in Cracow I used to speak with a guy who was selling pretzels and at the end of day he also fed pigeons.

I got mugged by a seagull once. Was at the seaside with a friend, we had hot dogs, suddenly he pulled back and next second a seagull slammed into my hand, feet first, the impact sent the hot dog flying, where it was immediately seized by others waiting. I don't know if they take turns, cos the seagul that did the mugging didn't get any for itself. My friend had seen it coming and had got out of the way but had neglected to warn me - some chum!

Well, I can imagine that shock. You do not expect attack from seagulls, do you, lol. I do not know if it is normal, but animals very often change their natural behaviour and shyness, if people intervene in their environment. They do not want nothing more, then that food stuff people have plenty of and of which people deprived them. In the High Tatra mountains there has been a similar problem with bears. They come in night to mountain villages, knock around the streets, reverse bins or even youngsters climb into them and check for some food. Several times they attacked people, especially bear with cubs do that. Some people say - shoot them, they are overcrowded. Real reasons are - people invaded their territory, build entertainment parks in most unpredictable places, leave rubbish along touristc paths, pick mushrooms and blueberries in mountains not just for themselves, but for home (!) although it is forbidden. Sinner is somebody else, not bears.

Seagulls are quite large birds, a lot bigger than they look at a distance! and the physical impact was quite sharp, apart from the unexpectdeness of it. Some beaches have signs warning that seagulls will attack.

I have a documentary about American mountain lions attacking people and dogs - but housing has now spilled into the lions' territory, where they'd always been able to roam freely before, so what' are they to do? move somewhere else?

Same with polar bears - there was a news story about a polar bear attack that killed some tourists and injured others - same reason, they're all top predators who used to be able to hunt in peace, till people started crowding them.

Of course, *people* aren't to blame - it's the animals' fault for being where we want to go, even if they've been there for hundreds or thousands of years with no problem till we came along. How dare they be in our way now!!!
