Wow! That is amazing!! I once had a waspy nest in the garden and it looked just like a plastic carrier was stuck in the hedge. I accidentally let my spade rest on it and had to let it quick! It looked nothing like this at all! I suppose there are many different kinds of wasps and nests but this one is really beautiful and thank you so much for sharing the photos...fascinating!

Thanks for your comments everyone. It's amazing isn't it! I just opened the door to my shed and thought... "what the bleep is that"!!!!!!! This photo was taken with an iphone after we sprayed the wasps and carefully cut it down for a closer look. It's sad I can't leave it there but didn't fancy a gazillion wasps in the garden over summer and no shed access! Wonder what will be in the shed next time I open the door!
