I am so excited about my Gunnera. From what I've read, G. tinctoria doesn't require quite as much water as G. manicata.....although I am babysitting so many waterhog plants in my garden (umbrella leaf, sensitive fern, cohosh etc.) that one more won't matter. I can also soak it with water from the turtle tanks, I'll just have to haul it a bit of a distance.

I tried manicata some years ago and found it hard work on my garden where almost everything is on a slope water tends to drain away rather than going down, anyway it struggled for a few years and I gave up on it.Might try again one day i do love the leaves.
