Can you buy things like heucheras locally?

The traditional dark leafed one has always been around, Gattina - but they've only just cottoned on to all the really colourful ones this year! Actually, they suddenly seem to have cottoned on to quite a few previously unseen plants. The French are not very adventurous in the garden...well in the countryside anyway.
Of course, they only see the point in naming them very occasionally...so you don't often know what you've actually got...

That sounds very familiar.......

Yup...I think it's common in these parts...

And in these....

Lots of new heucheras at the market, today - not a label in sight, Gattina. Didn't get any though...couldn't carry any more! lol! ;)

Lovely flower lady on the market started to offload all her unsold plants on me - could scarcely stagger back to the car, but the garden is beginning to look quite colorful! I identified a lithodora correctly, so she GAVE it to me. Shame no heucheras of any description. Very busy day, pretty much bankrupt now!

What happens to you when you live abroad ? Get a grip ladies....You should be happy with a window box of pelargoniums and a fabulous bogainvillea. ;)

We get garden centre envy, Pims. Well, we have to be envious of SOMETHING - the rest of it is so darned perfect. Erm, BTW, can't grow blinking bougainvilleas here - winters see 'em off, despite the fact that the local equivalent of B&Q stock them on a regular basis. Anyway, there's no challenge in your suggestion - I'm surprised at you.

Lol! So true, Gattina! ;)))
Gosh! I wish that Monsieur B was so generous...all I get is an occasional 10% discount...and considering how much I spend...I shall have to see what can be done!
I've got a couple of bougainvillea again this year...I said that I'd never do it again...but, they're coming indoors this winter.

I feel bougainvilleas need whitewashed walls to set them off, and don't they get too big to move around? You've seen pictures of our place, KF - it's more like the UK with sunshine (sometimes).

I don't know, Gattina, I've never managed to keep one that long before! I had one in the ground at the old house and it lasted one winter...then died the next...
OH loves the stuff, so I've got it in pots (not large)...and, if it doesn't work this time, I'm giving up!!
There was loads of it in Nigeria...and I definitely can't - and definitely don't want to - recreate those conditions... :/

Oh Dear! I can imagine.

Plane crash in the "city" yesterday...
...today is OH's birthday...
Poor man...all alone in the armpit of the universe... :/
