Interesting :o)

Yes - thats Hosta Sieboldiana - a big one! I've put some alpine grit around the base to protect it.
I started the planting the other day - but not happy with where those ferns are. As usual I've bought too many plants to grow around so!!
I am knacked! It was moving all the soil around that was the hardest part.
I'll be even more pleased when its done :)

I already know the answer to that, Pix... ;)
1 Jun, 2012
is that a yes? lol
1 Jun, 2012
Nah...nae fish Pixi! Just a wee wildlife pond :)
Thank you Hywel...got the pond bug :)))))

I know exactly what you mean, Scottish...but it'll be so worth it when it's finished...well, you'll probably always be tinkering...but you know what I mean! :)
It's really nice to have water in the garden...lovely and calming... :)))

ha cool :))
1 Jun, 2012
Since I'm not getting over to Gardening Scotland tomorrow - the stones will get finished.
I decided that not going is a good thing. Entrance fees, parking costs and food alone is money better spent on plants for inside the pond :)
1 Jun, 2012
Good for you, hen...too right! :)))
1 Jun, 2012
Aww...I'm jealous now. Stored mine in the shed to do as a winter project. You will have it looking good in no time S.
1 Jun, 2012
Sorry P....blame Karen - she wanted to see :)))
1 Jun, 2012
Mind you got another month off....going a bit stir crazy and fat. Have to find something to do!
1 Jun, 2012
Another month - you must be going daft!! Longest I've ever been of is 3 weeks (29 dog bites on my legs!!!!)
Maybe your pond project is just what you need :)
1 Jun, 2012
One dog that bit you 29 times (Bad) or 29 dogs that bit you once (very bad) What happened???
Not sposed to lift more than a kettle.
1 Jun, 2012
One german shepard P....just had to cover my face and let it get on with it!! I didn't want to run in case that made it worse. I can't type here what I was shouting at the stupid woman who owned it...but you can imagine.
If you are not supposed to lift much weight you had better hold off then - that's an order!!!!!
1 Jun, 2012
Gawd... it is the owners that need putting down sometimes.
Worse I've had is having my hand pulled through a letter box and chewed by a boxer dog. The owners just stuck their head out of the bedroom and laughed. Chemist cleaned and bandaged me up.
1 Jun, 2012
Very true P.....sad to say it did get put down! I wasn't the first postie it mangled!
I always think that there isn't a bad dog....just bad owners!
1 Jun, 2012
Oooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!
Angie, you dirty bird you!!! I am soooo jealous but very pleased with what you have accomplished!! Amazing! Can't wait to see it all planted up.
Re the dogs, yep, bad owners!
1 Jun, 2012
Thanks Lil...watch this space. Update to follow midweek...all going well :)
2 men here in Edinburgh have just been jailed for letting their dog loose and attacking people. About time people like this were dealt with!
1 Jun, 2012
29 bites! Is that not considered to be a mauling??
You have to put up a beware of the dog sign here and a bell on the gate if you have a dog which is likely to bite. If not, and it does...deep doodoo...for you and the dog.
Especially if it's Madame or Monsieur La Poste!
Can't wait to see that hosta grow, btw...
2 Jun, 2012
You are probably right Karen...a mauling would describe it better. I knew the dog was there - she hadn't shut the door properly, so when I saw her coming I just about wet my pants. She was a guard dog at the womans previous property in a very upmarket mansion in Edinburgh. It was on my birthday too - Happy Birthday Angie with love from Tara (the dog!)
Madame or Monsieur La Poste are not so lucky here!
I'm looking forward to the hosta getting bigger than it was last year - more planting done today :) Had to wait til neighbour came home to get him to take me up to the quarry for a few more wee bits of stone. Spent ages up there as the alarms were going off when we arrived and the security and him had to check everywhere. There was around £25k worth of copper wiring stolen from the site around 2 months ago!

So, if posties get bitten by dogs whilst delivering the mail, there's no comeback, Scottish? My goodness, that's mad, isn't it? I mean, in elf and safety conscious Britain, where kids aren't even allowed to play conkers in case they get hurt...
You would have thought that they would have legislated...it's illegal to tamper with the royal mail, but not the deliverer...?
It doesn't really surprise me about the copper, either, Angie...things really seem to be going to pot in the UK. I am really glad that I live here.
Anyway, have you got all your rocks now, then?? Next pic will be everything in place and serious planting taking place? :)
3 Jun, 2012
Yes - I've got all the rocks...they have been on and off all day!! :)
Can't seem to make them look natural if you know what I mean. I'll get planting finished tomorrow and will hopefully get for the pond plants on Tuesday.

It used to be RM's policy to contact police re dogs etc. They then left the responsibility with the individual. Probably cost them too much money to fight in court etc! What I had to do was go to police and report the incident then contact union to deal with other matters! Not being on delivery now I'm not sure what happens - but I think there is some sort of campaign re dogs on the go. I don't read RM Propoganda that comes through the door - it all goes in the bin!
3 Jun, 2012
There is that campaign...But what RM are actually doing is putting the onus for any dog bite on to the Postie. Last one bitten in our office was taken down the conduct code.
In your case Scottish, that would now result in you facing disciplnary action as you knew there was a dog at that address. How the bloody hell management think we deliver mail is beyond me, espesially in the time frame we are given...Don't set me off!!!!!! !!!!!!!
3 Jun, 2012
I'm speechless!...that's all I can say!!! How mad is that???
"Join the Royal Mail...be part of one of the oldest and most important services in the country...and be prepared to accept that any maulings in the line of duty will be your fault"...
...it's just not right...!
Anyway, apart from that...rocks on...rocks off...sounds a bit familiar...lol
...happy with it now, though?? :)
3 Jun, 2012
I'll not get you started P.....or I'll end up starting too :)
It's not the company it used to be!
I got threatened with going down the conduct code for complaining that mens long johns were not made for females! We could tell you lots of tales that would curl you hair :)
I think I'm happy with it now Karen - just been out to water the garden and I think it will be better once the plants soften it - and I get a few pebbles around!
3 Jun, 2012
It shocks me sometimes and makes me laugh at other times how British councils and companies handle things...elf and safety, political correctness...there's none of it here! People have to take responsibility for themselves, which includes their animals and their children!
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing it all, Scottish...well done! :)))

Oh, you've been really busy, Scottish! It's shaping up really well and some plants in already...what's that one with the roundish leaves, is it a hosta?
I bet you're cream-crackered tonight - digging holes and lugging rocks...!
Are you pleased with it? :)
