How near the hedge are they and is the hedge privet? Ground near any hedge has very little nutriments in it due to the hedge taking them all and privet is what is known as a 'gross feeder' meaning it is exceptionally greedy. Even digging in lots of good compost only works for a short while.

They are only about a foot or 2 from the hedge, which is a very sturdy privet. I shall mauve them a good feed and shift them. Thanks again I'm learning lots!

Maybe pot them up for a while?

Couldn't hurt... Dorjac. Magna you have a very odd spell checker if it turns 'give' into 'mauve'!

Lol cringe..... Sad heuchera 1 and 2 got lifted today, thier roots were just growing round in circles, as we're the roots of everything I lifted today, and all had thier roots loosened before planting, my soil is more dense than I thought and ive obviously not dug it over enough, so everything in the front is coming out, moving to a container as a temporary home, then I will need to dig it all over and get some goodness in. It will take me a few days to get them all out so I chucked blood fish and bone round everything in the mean time..can't do any harm, can it?.... I am learning the hard way !!!! Thanks for the advice Dorjac x
