I lost a few heucheras when I first inherited them with my garden, until I joined this site and rapidly discovered they prefer shade. I transferred the survivors and they romped away! Is this a sunny border?
Duh! I just read the comment on your previous photo (I'm browsing in reverse order!), so shade obviously isn't the answer. Sorry!

They do like to be kept moist and your soil looks extremely poor and dry. Did you dig compost in before you started planting?

Hi, I added a few bags of compost last spring, but haven put anything in this year apart from some tomato feed. I am thinking its going to be a start from scratch job round here next spring too, double dig it all and give the plants a better chance x this border is quite wet soul, very sticky. I did water it well during the warm weather x

Tomato food is not good for flowering plants - it is, as it says, for tomatoes so that they produce lots of fruits.

Oops...... I read it was good for flower too :$ another lesson learned x

It is good for feeding bulbs after they have flowered and before the leaves die back it is then feeding the actual bulb.
