Very nice Boo...

Cheers Lincs!

Make sure the pots are plenty big enough for them, BBM - those are way too small! Should look really good.
12 Jun, 2012
Really Gattina? There are no roots coming out from the bottom....
13 Jun, 2012
Well, you don't want to buy some gorgeous pots and then find they've outgrown them in a year - don't wait for roots to grow out of the pot, that means they are already overcrowded, and, almost more importantly, in those little pots, they are going to be unstable and blow over at the first puff of wind! These are trees, remember, and they can grow really quite fast. Trust Gattina - she has olive trees of her own.
What will you do with them when they get too big for the archway?
13 Jun, 2012
Ok Gattina, I take that on board and will get some nice bigger pots :) but how will they get too big for the archway?
13 Jun, 2012
How big is your archway? Olive trees s-p-r-e-a-d as well as growing upward, and get really quite bushy. Yes, of course you can prune them, but it's rather a shame.

They will be sat on the gravel either side of the steps Gattina
14 Jun, 2012
I shall be watching out for them! Don't pay any attention to me, BBM, I'm just playing Devil's advocate!

k Gattina :)

Just noticed the other day, tiny olives growing, a tad smaller than the size of a pea!!
24 Jun, 2012
Well, that's more than I've got! You must be cheating! :o)
24 Jun, 2012
Ha Ha yeah i got a petit pois and superglued it on!
24 Jun, 2012
I actually took a pic and sent it to my son-in-law, he was amazed! I will upload it later and post it on here :) i was gonna say 'tomorrow' but its already 'tomorrow' !!
24 Jun, 2012
Yes. Go to bed! It's 2.35 here, and I'm wide awake. Until I need to be tomorrow. Too darned hot!
24 Jun, 2012
Im a nightbird never go to bed before 3am, it raining here but im hot, hormones lol
24 Jun, 2012
Oh Dear! You too!
LOVE the bit about the petits pois. You do realise, though, that in persistent rain, even superglue may not be enough?
24 Jun, 2012
Hee hee.... right i'm off to upload that pic :)

Hi, Gina! How are your little olive trees doing? Did they survive your grotty winter? I was noticing that ours are putting on lots of fresh spring growth (albeit it a bit tatty) and thought of yours, either side of your arch.
31 May, 2013
Hi Gattina !!! how are you?
Yes, the olives survived, I fleeced the leaves and they've put on some growth, there's no room for them beside the arch, they are out the front.
31 May, 2013
Oh I am so pleased! I'll bet they look splendid! Who knows how they keep going in this awful cold? I took a photo of the snow that fell on the hills last night not 30 miles away from here. We're bringing the firewood back into the house and the electric blankets are going back on the beds this weekend. Bbrrrrr!
31 May, 2013
I'll take a pic for you,
blimey, can't believe you have weather like that just now, it's been in the low 20's today and the weekends gonna be warm too ?
31 May, 2013
Ah, it's not all hot sunshine and ice-creams here, you know! (Well, sometimes it is. Which is nice) It's because we're up in the mountains. Even down in Rome, which has a much milder climate than we do, it's still chilly for the time of year. Make the most of your warmth and send a little of it south, please!
1 Jun, 2013
Aww, Jan, I'm sure it will warm up for you soon and you'll be moaning that is too darn hot!!!! ??
1 Jun, 2013
Wouldn't that be nice? I can't wait. Have put heater on this morning 'cos having a shower is ICY! About to dig out sweaters, too. Hope it stays warm for you.

Was a lovely, warm day today, went to a GC and did a few bits in the garden ?
1 Jun, 2013
Went off to garden centre this morning - left at about 7.30 in freezing cold, dressed in thick socks, sweater, jeans and a coat, got down to the market, sun came out, and by 10.00 it was about 28°. Felt a bit of an idiot. Came home, beautiful warm day, spent it sleeping. What a waste! Have to spend tomorrow wearing sun cream, planting things out and weeding. Please keep sending the sunshine!
2 Jun, 2013
Oh Jan you DO make me laugh! 28 degrees! I told you so!! ?
2 Jun, 2013
We actually took the second duvet off the bed for the first time last night, but it's chilly and damp again today. I suppose living up a mountain must make a bit of a difference. I'll post a picture for you!

You take good care of those babies - they're beautiful! And I can't quite see how big they are, but that seems a pretty good price to me. We have two olive trees and I'd like to have a whole gardenful. Are you going to be planting them out or keeping them in pots?
