Another of your seed grown ones Balcony?

Yes, you have guessed correctly! (How could you otherwise since all my Amaryllis are grown from my own seed?)

This one flowered much earlier in the year so this is the 2nd flower head this year!

They are all down on the allotment once again. They will stay there till about mid-October when I'll have to bring them home again!

Though with all the rain we have had in the last couple of weeks they may well rot! Just last week I had to empty the water out of all the saucers they were standing in as they were full to overflowing! I turned them upside down & stood the pots back on them. No water will accumulate in the saucers & the pots should drain more freely now, I hope better than if they were not on the saucers.

Someone was asking about growing them outdoors on this forum a couple of weeks ago.............

They can be grown outdoors without any trouble during the frost free period of the year. They should be treated like the tender plants they are. Just like you wouldn't plant out Dahlias, for example, before the end of May, you shouldn't put these bulbs out before then.

I took my plants down to the allotment in the middle of May but the first couple of weeks they were in the greenhouse. I bring them back home in the middle of October as frost can come any day in October. Just one slip up could cost you your bulb(s)!
