Delonix, it's a small shrub. I thought I lost it this winter but growing nicely now. I've been looking on google...can't find anything (yet).

Found the name of this plant this morning in one of my plant books.

It doesn't look like Cuphea. Typically, Cuphea has hundreds or thousands of flowers on a small plant.

Found a lovely white variety too.

Delonix - it threw me too at first as I always assumed that they were very tender.

It has been full of flowers from around the middle of June and it's still going.

It is a little on the tender side. Mine died down this past winter.....that's why it took so long to be loaded with flowers.

Died down, but not died! After your winter that is quite hardy.

Yes, some are tender and others varieties/species are pretty hardy. They will reseed very easily. In San Diego they can grow to more than 6ft/2m tall.
