Katerina, Passiflora and Passion vines are some of the other names used for this plant.

Alexandramou:
If it has fruit, it's edible. :>)
The taste varies depending on variety.

Delonix,
Just remember, if I die it will be on your conscious. ;o)))
Do you collect seeds the same way as most fruits?

Oh please, Passion fruits are not poisonous! LOL!
Generally selected varieties are grown from cuttings. Do you know which variety this is?
My neighbor has 3 varieties on their very long fence. I usually get bags of them, to juice. They're so, so good. I think the yellow colored fruit are the sweetest (not positive, though). The variety you posted above is most likely a purple-colored fruit. Make sure they drop to the ground before eating them, though...or they shrivel up a little before picking, then they're ripe for eating or juicing.

Ok, so I'm not going to die.
It was suppose to be Passiflora actinia.....but that's not what germinated.

I've never read anywhere that any variety or species of Passiflora was poisonous. So no, you're not going to die. lol!
Your passion fruit looks like the common Passiflora edulis, to me. It's one of the easiest to grow...and many varieties come from this species.

Katarina:
It's not very easy keeping up with all the changes in horticulture and botany these days! When I studied botany and horticulture in college many years ago...it seemed very different. So many genera have been reclassified over the last 10 years, it's not funny!
