Magnolia tree

Oh no! The dreaded Magnolia grandiflora! lol! :>)

The very large tree in my front yard is very, very messy! However, I do love the large very fragrant flowers.

You must be joking. I love this tree.....loved it from the very first time I saw its huge gorgeous flowers . Why is it messy?

How close to the fence is this tree? If it's closer than 20ft/6m from the fence you're in for big, big troubles...maybe no fence in ten years (no kidding). Magnolia has a gigantic root-system like Ficus trees.

Right, when is the best time to move it??? I had a look around the garden this afternoon. It will swap places with my Rattle Box tree.

I build that fence all by myself this winter.....it's very uneven on the top and not finished.......but it keeps the neighbours weeds on his side.

It's most likely best to move as soon as you can.

I remember you posted a photo of a huge M. grandiflora last year with its massive root-system. It's surprising you didn't remember your photo. :>)

I do remember. That tree must be over 100 years old. I'm not sure my tree is going to be around that long.
Anyway, I will move it this fall just in case it is around after 100 years. ;o) I think it's too hot to move it now.

Yes, I know that tree was old. However, the first 5 years or so the tree grows pretty fast 20 or 25ft then they slow down and can grow to 100ft. The typically grow fast with lots of water.
