This lovely mauve Poppy has been flowering for several days on the allotment I share with my friend Gerry.

These Poppies grow like weeds on our allotment! I have to weed them out as well! Nevertheless I'm more than willing to let a few grow where they don't bother us or where we need to use the bed for something. One of the problems is that they grow very tall & the lower leaves look terrible by the time the plants come into flower.

Lovely poppy. Did you have any trouble with people trying to nick the pods?

Hi, Hopsajumpin & welcome to GoY! The Poppies were certainly lovely! Nobody try to nick the seedpods, there are 100s of plants all over the allotments field anyway.
On the other hand they couldn't have nicked them any way because I did my best to remove as many as I could every day - not because I feared they might be nicked but because I didn't want them seeding all over the allotment! They can become quite a weed!
