Thanks, Phs. It's labelled as a 'patio' clematis, which only grows to between 6 and 8 feet, and so I think this is why the flowers are low on the plant. It's covered in blooms at the moment - not bad for its first year.

Can you tell me how to get the flowers to bloom so low to the ground? Lovely clematis by the way!
