Yes, it's a blackbird chick Keith. I don't think it has been very long out of the nest as it is very helpless in the borders, just sitting there. Hasn't even learned to be afraid of us yet! Poor thing, I don't fancy it's chances. I found a dead one (probably it's sibling) in the shallows of the pond yesterday...a rock in the pond nearby gave the game away...a cat must have had it and dropped it when the rock moved. It wouldn't have drowned there by itself as it was only in about 5mm of water. Poor thing. Too many cats here I'm afraid. Too many dogs too for that matter!! lol ;)

Same problem here with all the cats Karen. There seems to be lots more baby birds about the garden this year than usual.
