What a stunner; such a rich color, has it got a fragrance?

Thank you for your comments about my friend's garden in France. Very helpful. The photos don't show the first level, where she has a rose arch before the secong flight of steps. On that level there are raspberries, a couple of apple trees, currants and an area of grass. The one comment I hadn't thought of, is ''keeping it simple '' so important !
My first aim will be to tidy it all up. Then a few trips to the local garden centres.

There is more to the courtyard garden? Crickey, it is treasure-chest of delights! I see a rose garden.., unless the owners want a herb/veggie plot?
