Echinacea

A friend of mine gave this to me and have no idea what variety. The white is not as bright as my other white varieties (White Swan, Virgin) but is fragrant. Not as showy as any of my others but I like it.

I am planning on putting this in a perennial border with other echinaceas, switch grass, a seven-son tree, butterfly bushes and a couple Hydrangea paniculata 'Vanilla-fraise'. I might put at least one of my Leptodermis plants in there too. I like all the echinacea varieties, they tolerate the hot-dry spells well and add a ton of color.

Well, that sounds like very beautiful perennial border. Although I do not know, what does it mean seven-son-tree. Do you know that Echinacea was one of the most used medicinal plants by American Indians?

Seven-son tree is a small tree/large shrub that flowers toward the end of summer. It's a very attractive tree, I have some pictures in my "garden" section on this site. It is listed under its botanical name: Heptacodium miconioides.

If you combine it with high grass, e.g. Miscanthus sinensis, this is very elegant combination! I like white Echinacea too.
